Rockets and missile launchers

I recall seeing that afterburners were restricted by the class of ship they were mounted on. Other than limits of powergrid and CPU, are there limits to the size of gun and/or missile launcher you can mount? --Eirik Ratcatcher 16:17, 21 April 2008 (PDT)

Well as far as I know ABs and MWDs aren't restricted exactly, they just don't work so well when a too-small module is mounted on a ship. So if you put a 1MN on your BC, you won't get much acceleration out of it, although I think you will get the max velocity increase...eventually. (And if you can manage to fit a too-large module on your ship, say a 10MN on a destroyer, I bet you'll have quite the acceleration boost, but you won't be able to mount much else.) Don't quote me though as I'm still pretty noobish in this game...although in my noobosity I have put 1MNs on a cruiser. I was not what you'd call impressed. But anyway, the 'frigate-sized module' etc. is more a guideline than a restriction.
Anyway I think the same holds true for turrets; if you can squeeze a Dual 150 railgun into your frigate's powergrid and CPU, then there's nothing stopping you from leaving hangar and firing it when you get outside, although it's again probably about the only thing you'll be able to fit. And I know the reverse holds true, as my L2mission-eating cruiser has a small neutron blaster mounted in its fourth turret hardpoint (couldn't quite get a fourth medium turret in) and I use it from time to time on rogue drones and wimpy npc frigs that slip too close. Missile launchers I have practically zero experience with though.--Scrotch 22:35, 21 April 2008 (PDT)
For the two weeks that the trial lasted, I played a Minmatar, so I had at least some missile experience. Never did get to the point where defender missiles (anti-missiles) would be of any use, though. On the other paw, I can see where a rocket launcher or some such might be useful on anything that wanted to defend against missiles, given the high rate of fire. ... Assuming that defender missiles are useful in some situation or another... --Eirik Ratcatcher 16:15, 22 April 2008 (PDT)
They aren't very useful unless you're fighting, say... someone who's in a ship with one hardpoint using torps or something. Otherwise.. meh. But no, no actual restrictions on mos things, as said by the anonymous person who first replied. Bronnwynn 14:13, 17 March 2009 (PDT)
In my humble, they (Defenders) are also handy when you're being spammed by missile cruisers because there's almost always something for them to lock on to, and they take a little off the DPS you're tanking against. Plus regular missiles aren't too effective once you're outside, say, 5km. -- Soren nyrond 03:06, 18 March 2009 (PDT)
5km? That's ... about 2-5 times my usual combat distance... :) --Eirik Ratcatcher 16:30, 18 March 2009 (PDT)
